Welcoming 60,000 New ‘Employees’: The Honeybees at Loreto Toorak

Loreto Toorak has taken a significant step in our commitment to environmental sustainability by partnering with Rooftop Bees to bring 60,000 honeybees to our campus. Two honeybee hives have been installed, offering our students a unique opportunity to learn about pollination, biodiversity, and the critical role bees play in our ecosystem.

This hands-on experience is not only educational but also a practical contribution to the preservation of honeybees, a species essential to the health of our planet. Later this year, we look forward to harvesting our own Loreto Toorak-branded honey—a ‘sweet’ symbol of our dedication to environmental justice during our Centenary celebrations.
