English
Students engage with a wide range of texts encompassing fiction, non-fiction, picture story books, plays, poetry, short stories, media, persuasive and electronic texts as part of our comprehensive English Program. Experienced and caring teachers provide students with learning opportunities designed to enhance their understanding of texts, and to awaken new perspectives on the textual worlds they encounter that inform real-world experiences.
The English Department is committed to extending and challenging each student. We are focused on developing students’ wider reading and analytical skills, vocabulary, written and verbal skills of expression. Within the English classroom environment, skills of collaboration, creativity and critical thinking are valued and fostered through a wide range of teaching and learning activities. It is hoped that in their final year of schooling, the cumulative study of English from Years 7-12 will shape each student in a manner that will empower her on her life journey beyond the walls of the school.
