Young Engineers is an extra-curricular enrichment program available to all Rathfarnham (Preparatory to Year 6) students at Loreto Toorak. Students are provided with an engaging and hands-on learning experience using Lego kits. During the after-school sessions, they explore a variety of real-world problems and build prototypes that are designed, built, and programmed to work. The program encourages the development of the basic principles of Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) from a young age.
During the last session for the year, students built a motorised skateboard and programmed it such that the skateboard changed direction when the tilt sensor was activated.
We look forward to seeing more budding engineers in the program when it recommences next year.
