Year 12 VCE Art Making and Exhibiting Class Visit Contemporary Gallery

The Year 12 VCE Art Making and Exhibiting class had the opportunity to visit OTOMYS, a contemporary commercial art gallery in Prahran. The group were welcomed by the Gallery Director and Loreto Toorak Alumna, Hannah Abbott (2011). Hannah is not only an Alumna, but also a past student of Sandra Jane, who teaches this class.

Hannah was extremely generous with her time and shared with our students her journey from School to Gallery Director. She also spoke about OTOMYS’ current photographic and print exhibition by Sophia Szilagyi entitled ‘Vast and Intimate’. Hannah covered the role and function of this gallery; its relationships with artists, clients, and businesses; and exhibiting, promoting, and selling artwork. All of which was highly relevant to students’ study of galleries and exhibitions as part of their VCE course requirement.
