08 Aug 2024 back to previous A Journey Back in Time: Year 1 Excursion to Rippon Lea Mansion Our Year 1 students recently embarked on an exciting excursion to Rippon Lea Mansion, a key part of their learning in the unit 'Times Have Changed.' This immersive experience allowed our young learners to step back into the 1800s and explore life as it was during that era. Dressed in period clothing, the students experienced life as servants, working in the mansion's original kitchen and laundry. This hands-on experience provided them with a vivid understanding of the daily routines and challenges faced by people in the past. On the mansion's expansive lawn, the students enjoyed a variety of traditional games, including croquet, egg and spoon races, and Oranges and Lemons. These activities added a playful dimension to the day and gave students a taste of the leisure activities enjoyed by children in the 1800s. The day also included a guided tour of the Rippon Lea estate, where students explored the beautiful gardens that once housed a zoo. back to previous
