15 Nov 2024 back to previous STRIDE@9: Empowering Year 9 Students Through Deakin University’s Short Course Our Year 9 students had the exciting opportunity to participate in an academic enrichment course offered by Deakin University. The course, titled “Developing Skills in Sport through Motor Learning-focused Exercise Science”, has been specifically designed for our students, providing a unique insight into the science behind athletic skill development. Guided by Dr Aden Kittel, Lecturer in Motor Learning and Development, our students delved into the ways athletes learn, develop, and refine their skills in sport. They collaborated with Dr Kittel to design an innovative training approach for an athlete preparing for the 2032 Brisbane Olympics, with a focus on the integration of advanced training technologies. This collaboration represents part of the STRIDE@9 microcredential program, an academic initiative that has proven to be both challenging and enriching. We are incredibly grateful for the continued support of Dr Lyndell Bruce and the Deakin University Centre for Sport Research, whose partnership has been integral to the success of this program. The STRIDE@9 course has provided our students with invaluable exposure to university-level learning and the opportunity to engage with leading experts in the field of sport science. This initiative is just one example of how Loreto Toorak continues to offer unique opportunities for intellectual and personal growth, ensuring our students are well-prepared to meet the challenges of tomorrow. We are thankful for the generosity of our university and industry partners. 2024 has undoubtedly been a year of opportunity and growth for our Year 9 students and we look forward to many more innovative learning experiences ahead. back to previous
