Congratulations to Lucinda M (2022) whose artwork Camouflage has been shortlisted for Top Arts 2023.
The annual Top Arts exhibition showcases outstanding artworks and folios by students who have completed VCE Art or VCE Studio Arts. Held at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, the exhibition will open on 17 March 2023. Top Arts is part of the Victorian Curriculum Assessment Authority (VCAA)’s annual VCE Season of Excellence.
“Lucinda has been a dedicated and highly creative student of Art. Through her personal interest in the issues related to the impact of fast fashion on the environment, she developed an innovative and experimental practice culminating in her final mixed-media piece. As her teacher, it has been exciting to watch her imaginative concepts evolve into works that invite a dialogue with the viewer about important issues of our time.” – Sue Burke, Assistant Head of Visual Art
Lucinda explores the concept of individual identity verses the influence of popular trends and fast fashion. The shortlisted work is a constructed corset, overflowing with foliage that represents the impacts on nature.
