What We Offer

Professional Learning and Development
Nurturing the growth and development of our staff, we offer many opportunities for career advancement and professional growth and development. Whether you are an experienced leader or starting your career in education, we provide coaching and mentoring designed to help you thrive. Our staff are actively encouraged to participate in external professional development conferences, join industry associations, and build valuable networks within the wider Loreto community and externally. Additionally, we offer financial support and study leave for eligible staff to pursue formal postgraduate studies. All new staff partner with a “New Starter Buddy” assisting their smooth transition into our school community. Individualised support is also available to provisionally registered teachers to progress to VIT full registration.

Health and Wellbeing
Our dynamic wellbeing program enables our staff to thrive personally, professionally and spiritually and builds a sustainable culture where staff feel connected, respected and valued. Wellbeing program is designed to support both your physical and mental health, offering a wide variety of activities and initiatives. There is something for everyone to engage in and thrive. All staff have access to our onsite gymnasium, and every term we hold a range of gym programs including bootcamp, spin classes, learn to lift and yoga. Café Mandeville is open daily to all staff serving discounted barista made coffee, lunches and snacks in a modern and comfortable café setting. Connect with colleagues over morning tea served by the School every Wednesday. Our beautiful gardens, Chapel and outdoor spaces provide all staff with a lovely environment to snack, or reflect and take some time out from their day. Recruitment & Selection Process

Loreto Toorak is committed to creating a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels welcome, safe and respected. Loreto Toorak collects personal information about you during the recruitment process in order to assess your application for employment with us. We collect, use disclose and store personal information in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

Applications should be lodged by the closing date and include:

  • Cover letter outlining your suitability for the position
  • Current resume detailing your skills, experience, and qualifications
  • Two professional referees’ contact details. For Teachers one referee must be your current or most recent Principal

Employment is subject to the following requirements:

  • Eligibility to work in Australia
  • Current and valid registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching or Working with Children Check (Employee) and/or a National Police Check
  • Loreto Toorak is a Child Safe organisation with a demonstrated commitment to the safety and wellbeing of children, with a zero-tolerance approach to the abuse of children in our care. Successful candidates will be required to support the School’s Child Safety policies and procedures and commit to their implementation in writing upon commencement.
  • Completion of any additional pre-employment checks to support our commitment to Child Safety and to recruiting the highest quality employees
  • Ideally applicants will hold current and valid First Aid and CPR qualifications

Shortlisting and Interview
Shortlisted candidates are contacted to arrange a time to meet with the selection panel for interview. The selection panel will typically comprise the Hiring Manager and 1 to 2 other panel members from our leadership team. The preferred candidate/s shortlisted from the first interview will typically be invited for a second interview. For some roles, an interview with our Principal will be required.

Reference Checks
Loreto Toorak will seek your consent to contact your nominated referees. A minimum of two professional reference checks are undertaken for all positions. A member of the selection panel or HR team will discuss your application with your nominated referees. For all teaching positions a reference from your current Principal will be required.

Offer of Employment
Upon successful completion of reference checks and approval by the Principal, a verbal offer will be made to the preferred candidate. A written offer of employment and onboarding documentation will be sent electronically to the candidate for review and signature, typically within 48 hours of a verbal offer being made.
